Excerpt from Rick Riordan’s new short story, ‘The Son of Sobek’, has been released

serpents-shadow-rick-riordanRick Riordan has practically become the king of YA mythology-based fantasy writing over the past several years and it seems as though he’s now looking to one-up himself! His new short story, The Son of Sobek, is set to hit book shelves inside of The Kane Chronicles: Serpent’s Shadow paperback this May. But for those of us too impatient to wait, Riordan and his publisher are now offering a free excerpt from the short story on their Kane Chronicles Facebook app!

The short story introduces the two main characters from The Kane Chronicles and Percy Jackson: Percy and Carter! This may also confirm the long-rumored crossover of the two series, where Riordan will (hopefully) bring together both the Egyptian and Greek gods.

Riordan has also confirmed that those who already own copies of Serpent’s Shadow will not have to repurchase the book in order to read the short story. Instead, The Son of Sobek will be released as an e-book and audio book (narrated by Riordan) later this year.

Here’s the excerpt from The Son of Sobek:
