Hello again, dear friends! We hope you’re pleased with our blog and that you are impatient to read any new articles that come up. We are very passionate about the adaptation of literary texts and we know you are as well if you’re reading this.
We wanted to use this space to tell you what inspired us to start this blog and to also tell you more about ourselves, so enjoy reading!
The People Behind the Blog
There isn’t that much to say about ourselves. I know this sounds a bit absurd considering we just said we wanted to use this post to tell you who we are, but it’s about right. We are a few blokes who met at university and whose hobbies include arguing about everything, especially books, comics, films, and TV shows.
We met at our university’s fantasy society, so you can call us nerds and you won’t be that far off. The society met every week to discuss a specific work such as Lord of the Rings or A Song of Ice and Fire, and at some point, we’d all be passionately arguing about whether Daenerys lived in Dorne when she was a little girl or not.
Now that we’ve all graduated, we dearly miss our weekly society meetings. True, we can argue with each other online, but it’s not the same; we had audience before. This is why we decided to make this blog, so you too can explore the most nerdy and obscure facts about our favourite book or comic series.
Why Focus on Adaptations
You now might be asking yourself why we made a blog discussing film and TV adaptations, rather than a blog about fantasy in general. Well, our four years of fantasy society meetings taught us that the best and most heated debates are ones concerning adaptations of literary texts.
Everyone seems to have an opinion on that, even people who are not in the fandom that received an adaptation of their favourite work. This could be because viewers love nit-picking and finding issues with adaptations, because it’s easier to judge an adaptation as opposed to an original work.
To summarise, we picked a topic that is hotly debated online every day and one which interests people, us included.
Blog Contents
This blog will feature articles on famous and not so famous adaptations of literary works (books, comics, manga). Each article will focus on a specific adaptation and discuss specifically how a work was adapted on the screen.
Still, we don’t want to write the same type of article over and over again, only changing the subject, so we’ll sometimes pick an aspect of the adaptation such as tone, casting or what not, and focus on that.
We want to give you interesting and memorable articles that you can enjoy reading and share with your friends.
Thank You
Thank you so much for supporting us by reading our blog! Stay tuned!
