Nintento announces ‘Nintendo SNES Classic’ console releasing this year

With retro video games making a comeback, it is no surprise that Nintendo has officially announced the upcoming release of their SNES Classic.

The SNES Classic arrives on September 29th and will cost $79.99.  For that price, you will receive 21 classic games already included on the system, four of them being Super Mario titles.  Like its predecessor (the NES Classic), the SNES will fit into the palm of your hand and will have the ability to plug directly into your television through HDMI.

The biggest surprise is that an unreleased game will also be included – Star Fox 2.  It was originally a project in the ’90s, but never made it out of development.  Here is a full list of the games available on the SNES Classic:

– Contra III: The Alien Wars
– Donkey Kong Country
– EarthBound
– F-Zero
– Final Fantasy III
– Kirby Super Star
– Kirby’s Dream Course
– Mega Man X
– Secret of Mana
– Star Fox
– Star Fox 2
– Super Castlevania IV
– Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
– Super Mario Kart
– Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
– Super Mario World
– Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
– Super Metroid
– Super Punch Out
– Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
– The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

If history (inevitably) repeats itself, this classic console will be extremely difficult to obtain.  Unless Nintendo does something about the lack of stock, you may have to get your pre-orders in early!
