With only two seasons (and short ones, at that) of HBO’s mega-hit Game of Thrones left, fans – and the studio behind it – were clamoring for more. So it comes as no surprise that a spinoff is in the works.
Or spin-offs, rather. Four of them. Yeah, you read that right. Four.
Sounds like a bit much to us, but on the flip side, it’s hard to complain about more adventures across Westeros.
EW broke the news that four different writers are each in development on separate stories set to premiere as their own miniseries or show:
The show ideas are from Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island, Fox’s Minority Report); Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class) along with Martin; Brian Helgeland (A Knight’s Tale, L.A. Confidential); and Carly Wray (Mad Men) with Martin.
And in good news for hardcore book fans, George R.R. Martin is directly involved in two of the projects.
Unsurprisingly, HBO is staying tightlipped on the new announcement, saying only that the new shows will “explore different time periods of George R. R. Martin’s vast and rich universe.”
Game of Thrones’ latest season is set to premiere this July!
