Captain Jack spills over into real life as Johnny Depp visits Disneyland

A few fans were in for a treat when, upon closer inspection, that double-take was worth it: that wasn’t an advanced Disney animatronic, that was Johnny Depp dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow in the middle of the theme park’s famed attraction.

With Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales on the horizon, it’s no surprise that Depp is making public appearances. However, public appearances in character and in the ride that inspired the film franchise is a completely different story!

Fans floating by on the ride noticed Depp interacting with riders as Sparrow presumably would. The performance was brilliant, offering the few lucky fans in attendance a memory they won’t soon forget!

Some park visitors uploaded videos of Depp in the attraction:

There’s no official word as to why Depp was at the park in character, but signs in the area notifying theme park attendees that filming was happening on-site leads us to believe that some sort of DVD extra or promotional video was being filmed and his appearance was a part of that.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to hit theaters on May 26, 2017!
