Pokemon GO launches Valentines Day event with double candy, pink Pokemon! (Review and Guide!)

Get ready to adventure, Trainers! Niantic, makers of smash hit mobile game Pokemon GO, have just announced a new event ahead of February 14th’s Valentines Day!

The event, running from February 8th to February 15th, is pink-themed! Throughout the duration of the event, pink Pokemon can be encountered much more frequently in the wild. This includes the rare Porygon, who many Trainers have yet to obtain!

Here’s a full list of spawn-increased Valentines event Pokemon:

  • Chansey
  • Clefable
  • Porygon
  • Lickitung
  • Jigglypuff

Additionally, three of the Gen 2 baby Pokemon (Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum) have increased hatch chances from eggs!

It’s worth noting that an increased spawn chance for Chansey is one to take advantage of while it lasts: the otherwise-rare Pokemon will have a massively powerful evolution once Gen 2 releases – Blissey – who is set to dominate gyms as a top tier defender! Use this time to gather as many high-IV Chanseys and Chansey candy as you possibly can!

Finally, perhaps the most beneficial part of the event for hardcore Trainers: double candy for every Pokemon you catch! It’s a great opportunity to stock up on candies for easy evolution Pokemon such as Weedle and Pidgey. Additionally, walking your Buddy Pokemon will result in obtaining candy twice as fast.

All in all, this week-long event looks like it’s going to be a doozy! With Gen 2 on the horizon, it’s a great (albeit temporary) change to a game meta that is growing a bit stale.

Play soon, Trainers! The event will end at 11:00 AM PST on February 15th. Happy Valentines!
