New trailer for ‘Logan’ is even better than the first – most promising superhero film yet?

The second full-length trailer for the latest X-Men film, Logan, is here! It’s hard to follow up on the massive success the first Logan trailer enjoyed (thanks largely in part to the stunning use of Johnny Cash’s Hurt and incredibly moving cinematography), but they’ve managed to do it.

Fox, the studio behind Logan, has largely shied away from over-promoting the film. This is the second and final full length trailer (with only one teaser trailer having been released), with the studio relying heavily on marketing gimmicks (like a recent postcard campaign), suspense, and mystery to carry the film to box office success.

The second and final trailer features a lot of the same scenes alongside some new clips and previews! It manages to perfectly frame the bittersweet ending we’ll all experience as Hugh Jackman retires his Wolverine character, 17 years after his debut in 2000’s X-Men. Thankfully, we experience enough of the story to be intrigued without the studio following the frustrating trend of spoiling half the film in one go.

Logan will say farewell to Wolverine, and quite possibly Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, while simultaneously introducing X-23, a younger, female version of Wolverine.

Need a more concise look at the film’s plot? Here’s the official synopsis:

In the near future, a weary Logan (Hugh Jackman) cares for an ailing Professor X (Patrick Stewart) at a remote outpost on the Mexican border. His plan to hide from the outside world gets upended when he meets a young mutant (Dafne Keen) who is very much like him. Logan must now protect the girl and battle the dark forces that want to capture her.

Logan, which stars Hugh Jackman, Boyd Holbrook, Dafne Keen, Stephen Merchant, Doris Morgado, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Richard E. Grant and Patrick Stewart, is set for release on March 3, 2017.
