Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead were the only members of Team X-Men to make an appearance in the R-rated superhero smash hit, Deadpool, and we now have confirmation that they’ll be returning for the hugely anticipated sequel!
The reveal came in a recent interview with writers Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick:
PAUL WERNICK: I can’t say how much they are…
RHETT REESE: I think we can say. Yeah, they’ll be in the sequel.
WERNICK: Yeah, they’ll make at least an appearance.
The pair brilliantly complimented Ryan Reynolds’s titular character throughout the film, managing to keep him grounded in the scenes they shared and even complimenting his fighting abilities in several encounters with the film’s villain, Ajax.
Colossus, played by Stefan Kapicic, was as stone cold as his exterior. The level headed Russian, capable of covering his entire body in metal, acted as the adult in the room whenever Deadpool was around. He tried, in vein, to convince the superhero(?) to give up his rogue-ish ways and join the X-Men.
Negasonic Teenage Warhead (played by Brianna Hildebrand), Colossus’s sidekick and fellow member of the X-Men, accompanied the big guy on his multiple encounters with Deadpool. The character was never a mainstay in the Marvel comics, but instead was chosen for her unique sounding name (which Deadpool quipped about in the film). In the film, the young mutant, capable of telekinetic detonation, is still in training.
The pair played a major role in the final showdown between Deadpool and Ajax, leading to the defeat of Ajax and his sidekicks.
Fox has confirmed that the duo will be back for Deadpool 2 (working title), which is set to release in 2018.
