It may have been one of the worst kept secrets in the gaming world, but its official debut has finally arrived: Nintendo has announced its next generation console, the Nintendo Switch, in a press conference earlier today.
Promising to shake-up the current generation console market (and make up for its relative flop with its previous console, the Wii U), Nintendo is at it again with another mold-breaking release.
This new device combines what Nintendo is great at: console and handheld system experiences. The new two-part device includes your traditional console, working as a docking station, and a tablet with detachable controllers. This will allow players to play games on their TV or take the game on the road!
This preview trailer shows scenes from the upcoming, highly-anticipated Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, among other launch titles. We’re also shown another Mario title, as well as Splatoon, NBA 2K17, Mario Kart, and even Skyrim being played.
Chances are, this thing will sell like hot cakes, as Nintendo consoles typically do. But will it make up for the failure that was the Wii U? Time will tell.
Nintendo has a tendency to release a limited amount of devices when they launch a new console, as we have seen in the past with the Nintendo Wii and Wii U, so be sure to get a pre-order down on one of these if you plan on getting one at launch!
