New Marvel comic ‘Steve Rogers: Captain America” #1 reveals MASSIVE, and evil, twist for the comic icon

It’s safe to say no one saw this coming: the final pages of the first issue of Marvel’s new Steve Rogers: Captain America comic series saw the iconic Avengers character Captain America hailing Hydra!

The twist comes just after the release of Captain America: Civil War, the third Captain-centric Marvel film, which had audiences in love with Rogers all over again. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Comic Universe are two separate entities, there’s a substantial amount of fan crossover, and all can agree that this revelation was a massive surprise!

Up to this point, Steve Rogers’ Captain America was held in the highest esteem as a true American icon. Now the Cap is hailing Hydra, a leading terrorist organization in the Marvel universe with deep roots throughout the world.

It’s too early to say for certain that Captain America truly is a double agent. With this being just the first issue in a new series, there’s plenty of time for writers to reveal the truth behind Rogers’ “hail Hydra” line.

Do you think Captain America really is evil? Hopefully we’ll have an answer in issue #2!
