EA Games hints that game studio BioWare is developing a new IP


It’s usually big news when a revered game studio is working on a new IP. Take Blizzard, for example: their announcement of Overwatch, the company’s first IP in nearly 19 years, sent gamers into hype overdrive, leading to a massively successful beta and an expected record-breaking launch.

Now BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon Age, and more, is said to be developing an entirely new IP. In a recent investor release, EA Games revealed that BioWare is expected to contribute financially toward increased profit as part of their collection of action games:


This is noteworthy for two reasons: firstly, it’s a new IP from a major studio; second, it would mark the first major action game release from a studio that has only ever released role-playing games.
