‘Star Wars’ Episode VII’s release date set

Disney and Lucasfilm have just announced that the day is set for the return of the Star Wars movies. Get ready for December 18, 2015, right in the middle of holiday season!

The movie will be directed by J. J. Abrams, and filming will begin this May, at the Pinewood Studios in London. About the plot or the characters little to nothing is known, but they’ve said that “Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces.

I can only assume the “familiar faces” are Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo. What about the “new faces”? Will they follow the Extended Universe canon or come up with entirely new characters? I would like to see Jaina and Jacen, Han and Leia’s children, but I don’t think this will happen.

What do you think? What will become of the Extended Universe if these movies change everything?
