Some time ago I wrote here about how Batman’s Commissioner Gordon was getting his own TV show. But it seems Fox’s chairman Kevin Reilly has dismissed those rumors at the Television Critics Association press tour panel this Monday.
Instead, he said that Fox has acquired the rights to all the characters we are used to see in Batman’s universe: the Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, the Riddler, Batman himself, of course, among others. There’s something different about this series, though: the characters will all be younger versions of themselves. We will learn about how they became the characters we’ve come to known, and what terrible things happened to them so they ended up like they did.
The series will span from Bruce Wayne’s childhood until much later, when he assumes the vigilante’s identity. Kevin Reilly also added:
“We don’t start off with capes and costumes. (…) We’re arcing to that. We’re not starting in that world where the villains are in costume. You see markers for it that are delicious, you see where the evolution and eccentricity where they become those characters. “
What do you think of these new developments?
