Fresh off the Slab is back after a slight hiatus! Hope you missed all your horror movie news, but we are back for the long haul.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones

I’m not entirely sold on the need for another Paranormal Activity film, but we have another one coming our way. It seems that the folks behind the advertising for the film are doing things right. We now have an animated poster that you can see here:

Evil Dead 2 / Army of Darkness 2

Earlier this week, the internet was abuzz with the news that Fede Alvarez and his writing partner had abandoned the Evil Dead 2 project. Fede was quoted in an interview as saying:

Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going to happen, at least not with us involved. We left that project many months ago because we preferred to put our energies on other things. I don’t know if the producers still have intentions of making it. But what I can tell you is that we are not part of that project.

army-of-darkness-220Now, Fede is saying that this is a huge misunderstanding. The project has only been shelved until the Raimi/Campbell helmed Army of Darkness 2 is completed. I don’t know about you all, but I would much rather see a sequel to Army of Darkness than a sequel to Evil Dead (while that sequel still intrigues me as they could go into a total new direction as compared to the original sequel).

Sam Raimi is directing Army of Darkness 2 and Bruce Campbell will be revisiting the role of Ash. Raimi is writing the script with his brother. The film will have some sort of tie in with Evil Dead.

Only Lovers Left Alive

A brand new international trailer for Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive. Starring Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt, Anton Yelchin, and Jeffrey Wright, the film is scheduled to be released in Russia on December 5th and in the UK on February 21st.

Set against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangier, an underground musician, deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover.

Their love story has already endured several centuries at least, but their debauched idyll is soon disrupted by her wild and uncontrollable younger sister.

Can these wise but fragile outsiders continue to survive as the modern world collapses around them?
