‘Trick’r Treat 2’ has been given the green light!

Bloody Disgusting posted the breaking news that the sequel to Trick’r Treat has been given the go ahead by Thomas Tull from Legendary. The announcement was made at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood for Beyond Fest. It was announced during Michael Dougherty’s uniquely impressive film.

Here is what Bloody Disgusting had to report (you can see the full article by following this link):

Here at the screening and during the Q+A Sam came out with a note asking Michael Dougherty to make a sequel,” Dickson explains. “Dougherty says it’s not his call…it’s Thomas Tull from Legendary’s call.

This is when the Thomas Tull stands up in the audience and exclaims, ‘I can’t say no to Sam. Let’s make a sequel!’

This is when the title card for Trick ‘r Treat 2 blasted on the screen to roaring exclamation from the audience!

You can see the original film’s synopsis here (synopsis from Fandango):

Prolific director Bryan Singer takes a turn towards horror as the producer of this Halloween shocker directed by X2 and Superman Returns screenwriter Mike Dougherty. With four interwoven tales concerning a high-school principal who moonlights as a vicious serial killer, a college-age virgin who’s saving herself for that special someone, a woman whose hatred of Halloween is only exceeded by her husband’s love of the mischievous holiday, and a callous group of teens who carry out an unforgivably cruel prank, this fall frightener mixes Tarantino-style storytelling with the kind of chills that can only occur on the darkest day of the year. Brian Cox, Anna Paquin, Dylan Baker, and Leslie Bibb all star in a Halloween treat that’s sure to deliver a few nasty tricks.

Admittedly, I’m a huge fan of the original film. How do you all feel about the news concerning a sequel? Can they hope to top the original? Let me know you think!
