Yesterday we brought you a gallery of photos and a new video from the China-inspired set of Transformers 4, Michael Bay’s semi-reboot of the popular Transformers trilogy. Today, Michael Bay has released the first official cast photo showing the film’s three main characters, played by Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, and Jack Reynor in character as Cade, Tessa, and Shane, respectively. The three appear to be standing in front of an abandoned gas station in the middle of a desert. According to SlashFilm, the actors’ roles will breakdown as:
Wahlberg stars in the film as a mechanic named Cade who makes a discovery that attracts the attention of Autobots, Decepticons and a paranoid government official. Peltz plays Wahlberg’s teenage daughter Tessa, and we can only assume that Reynor plays Tessa’s boyfriend or love interest.
Earlier this month we reported the first official set photo, also released by Bay. We’ve also reported on a number of unofficial set photos and videos of filming in progress (including a lot of explosions).
No official plot has been revealed by Bay or the film studio behind Transformers 4, but we’ve been given a glimpse at where the story is headed thanks to comments from those working on the film:
“The movie is going to continue four years from the attack on Chicago, which was in the last movie. It’s going to have the same lineage, but it’s going in a full new direction. It actually feels very natural how it’s going in that direction… We’re doing a lot of things that are really going to make it fresh and feel new.”
[T]he film’s plot would see businessmen and scientists logically trying to benefit from the alien Cybertronian incursions, attempting to learn from and adapt the technology. It also hints that there may be more events from Earth’s past (beyond Apollo 11) that the Autobots, Decepticons or some other Cybertronian faction may have been involved in, in addition to the Hoover Dam of course.
Transformers: Age of Extinction is set to hit theaters on June 27th, 2014!
