We’re creeping up on the Halloween season and it’s Friday the 13th today. Let’s see what coming up to horrify, titillate, and terrify us.
Ghost Team One
Well, we have another horror comedy coming our way, except this one is in the lines of a found footage horror film. Take a look at the synopsis and the newly released red band trailer below! Note: NSFW or the kiddies.
When roommates Brad and Sergio accidentally arouse the dead, they team up with a sexy amateur ghost hunter, Fernanda, to expose the evil inside their home. But just as the guys start to get close to their hot new partner, they discover that a horny demon wants in on the action. Now, cameras are up and more than fear is rising in this outrageous romp where only one thing is certain: Someone is gonna get screwed.
A new Carrie featurette basically tells us to avoid Prom. Might not be a bad idea in this case. You can see it below! Carrie is due out in theaters on October 18th.
A re-imagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.
The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heart-throb Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.
The Last Days on Mars
While it’s not a typical Fresh of the Slab post (meaning it’s not exclusively horror), The Last Days on Mars looks to be a Scifi/horror film which will have a VOD release on October 31 (timely, right?) and a theatrical roll out in December 2013.
An astronaut crew on Mars is on the verge of a major breakthrough, having collected rock specimens that reveal microscopic evidence of life. In their last hours on the planet, two astronauts go back to a cavernous valley on the surface of Mars to collect further evidence for their discovery, but a routine excavation turns deadly when one of them falls to his death and his body is taken as a host and re-animated by the very life form they sought to discover.
Starring in the film are Liev Schreiber (Scream 2, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Dean Koontz’s Phantoms), Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense), Romola Garai (One Day, Atonement), Elias Koteas (Shutter Island, Zodiac), Tom Cullen (Weekend), Goran Kostic (In the Land of Blood and Honey, Taken), and Johnny Harris (Snow White and the Huntsman).
