Fresh off the Slab Horror Movie News September 8, 2013: ‘Beyond the Green Inferno’, ‘World War Z 2’, and ‘Crimson Peak’

Fresh off the Slab is here with your horror movie updates from last week and this weekend! What do you want to see come out for the Halloween season?

Beyond the Green Inferno

eli-rothEli Roth’s most recent directorial debut, The Green Inferno, was released at TIFF this weekend and the news has been posted by The Hollywood Reporter  that a sequel is also on its way! The sequel, titled Beyond the Green Inferno, will be directed by Nicolas Lopez. Roth and Lopez worked together previously on Aftershock.

The Green Inferno is a cannibal horror movie about a group of student activists from NYC who travel to the Amazon to protect a dying tribe. The group crashes in the jungle and are taken hostage by the very natives they set out to save.

Lopez and Guillermo Amoedo penned Beyond the Green Inferno. Eli Roth will produce.

No plot details are available at this time.

World War Z 2?

Brad Pitt sat down with Variety magazine to discuss the potential for a sequel to the 2013 blockbuster film World War Z. While the film faced set back after set back, it still managed to rake in over $500 million at the box office.

Pitt was quoted in a recent Variety interview to say: ““We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work”.

So, what do you think? The end of World War Z pretty much seemed to wrap up the zombie apocalypse. Or did it? Pitt infected himself with a pathogen to hide himself from the detection of the zombies. How will humanity retake what has been taken from them during the inevitable zombie uprising? Will zombies adapt or evolve? I’m very interested to find out.

Crimson Peak

So a few weeks ago, I posted news that Benedict Cumberbatch had left the cast of Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming ghost/haunt flick Crimson Peak. Well, the news has been posted that he has been replaced and I’m very excited about who will be filling the role. Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Avengers) will be stepping into the film according to Legendary Pictures.

The cast members include  Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Mama) and Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim, Sons of Anarchy).
