We left The Walking Dead‘s season 3 with a lot more characters than with what we started. With the premiere date (October 13) quickly approaching, some details are coming out about how our group is going to deal with this drastic change. Recently, The Walking Dead showrunner offered fans a video tour through season’s four set, offering glimpses into what we can expect from the latest season of our favorite zombie show!
With the threat of the Governor apparently gone, people try to go back to normal, whatever that might be during a zombie apocalypse. Most of the newcomers are what the Governor “left behind”, women, children, older people, but it seems everyone will have to find a way to help making the prison habitable. As you can see from the tour Robert Kirkman, the series creator, gave, the prison is starting to look like a more hospitable place.
There are more living areas, outside and inside, which means there must have been a very extensive “spring cleaning”. There’s actual electricity and generators, which will surely make things easier and more like Woodbury, even if it’s still a prison. They have animals and crops, which I suppose they got from the city. Seeing the size of the crops it’s safe to assume several weeks have passed since the end of the last season. But it’s interesting to see them explore that part of survivalism, and how apparent peace and quiet makes people go back to familiar roots. We had already seen this happen when they were on the farm, but that didn’t end well… makes people wonder how much it will last this time around.
They have clearly created a working system around the prison, down to having weapons spread throughout it and keeping big stretches of land healthy. This obviously involves a lot more manpower, but how will they keep such a big cast? The trailer has hinted that things might start to down spiral when we join the group again, which probably means most of these new additions might not make it to the end of the season. Things are never quiet for very long during a zombie apocalypse, after all.
Some permanent additions to the show are Lawrence Gilliard (The Wire), who will be joining as Bob Stookey. Chad Coleman (Tyreese), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), and Emily Kinney (Beth) were promoted to series regulars, and David Morrissey (The Governor) is set to return. What do you expect will happen on season 4 (avoiding spoilers from the comics, although the story has taken different paths)?
The Walking Dead season four premieres on AMC on October 13th!
