thor-the-dark-worldThor: The Dark World will mark the start of Marvel’s long-anticipated “phase two”, the second outing in its mega-hit movie series set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Another Marvel film, Iron Man 3, is set to be hitting DVD and Blu-ray in September, bringing with it lots of promotion material, including a brand new behind-the-scenes clip from Thor: The Dark World.

The new Thor flick is set to pick up where Thor left off at the end of The Avengers, which released last year. In the promotional clip, new footage is interspersed with behind-the-scenes footage and cast and crew commentary. Some of the new footage includes a look at Christopher Eccleston as Malekith, and interviews with Chris Hemsworth, Tome Hiddleston, director Alan Taylor, and more:

Disney and Marvel’s official synopsis of the film gives a better glimpse into what we can expect from the God of Thunder’s second solo visit to the box office:

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Thor: The Dark World is set to hit theaters on November 8th, 2013!
