Sony will announce their Playstation 4 release plans during Gamescon

Gamescon, the yearly convention held in Cologne, Germany, will be a major event for next-gen developers and console makers.  Being one of the final press events of the calendar year, you can expect some big announcements regarding our next big consoles, the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Rumor has it that Sony already plans to take full advantage of the Gamescon audience and will more than likely announce release plans for their newest console, the Playstation 4.  At this point, it is hard to tell if that truly means the actual release date or something else.  But with the way things are moving, it is strongly believed that we will get an official release date.  Currntly, The PS4 is targeting a “Holiday 2013″ release date.

Gamescon will be taking place  on August 20th at 18:00 BST (or 1:00pm EST) and will be broadcast live on several online outlets.

Oddly enough, there has been no talk about new PS4 games, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see a few of those as well.  As we already know, Microsft is bringing at least one exclusive title for their Xbox One conference, so we assume Sony will follow the same path.

Stay tuned for more updates related to Sony’s plans for their Playstation 4.
