Last week in trailers: ‘Catching Fire’, ‘Elysium’, ‘Riddick’ and more!


The latest goosebumps-inducing international trailer for Catching Fire has arrived and it is full of new footage. Directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and Woody Harrelson, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is scheduled for a release on November 22nd.

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.

The new Elysium featurette explores some of the more technical aspects of the movie and also includes behind-the-scenes footage. Directed by Neill Blomkamp and starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, and Sharlto Copley, Elysium comes out on August 9th.

Set in the year 2154, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth, a man takes on a mission that could bring equality to the polarized worlds.

The new Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters featurette, called “Myths Revealed”, gives a closer look at the characters and the mythology. Directed by Thor Freudenthal and starring Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Nathan Fillion, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters comes out on August 7th.

In order to restore their dying safe haven, the son of Poseidon and his friends embark on a quest to the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece while trying to stop an ancient evil from rising.

The red-band trailer for Riddick that premiered at this year’s Comic-Con gives a bloody closer look at the aliens Riddick will be up against. Directed by David Twohy and starring Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, and Katee Sackhoff, Riddick hits theaters on September 6th.

Left for dead on a sun-scorched planet, Riddick finds himself up against an alien race of predators. Activating an emergency beacon alerts two ships: one carrying a new breed of mercenary, the other captained by a man from Riddick’s past.

Check out the first Ender’s Game clip, titled “Mazer Rackham’s Run”, that also premiered at Comic-Con. Directed by Gavin Hood and starring Asa Butterfield, Abigail Breslin, Hailee Steinfeld, and Harrison Ford, Ender’s Game comes out on November 1st.

70 years after a horrific alien war, an unusually gifted child is sent to an advanced military school in space to prepare for a future invasion.

Take a look at the new extended red-band trailer for Kick-Ass 2, set for a release on August 16th. Directed by Jeff Wadlow, Kick-Ass 2 stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Jim Carrey.

The costumed high-school hero Kick-Ass joins with a group of normal citizens who have been inspired to fight crime in costume. Meanwhile, the Red Mist plots an act of revenge that will affect everyone Kick-Ass knows.
