The Conjuring, scheduled to be released this Friday, is based on one of Ed and Lorainne Warren’s case files. Now, word has been released that a sequel is in the works. Variety reports that Warner Brothers’ New Line Cinema is already in pre-production phases for the sequel. No plot details have been released at this time.
Ed and Lorainne are known as America’s preeminent ghost experts and demonologists. In college, I had the distinct pleasure to attend two of the Warren’s Demonology seminars (and they pretty much scared the hell out of me). During their seminar, they highlighted many of their case files and there are so many great stories and horrific stories. There is plenty of material for a production company to create a sequel or a franchise out of their stories. You can learn more about the Warren’s at their website.
Most people will recognize some of the Warren’s more recognized case-files-made-into-film: The Amityville Horror and The Haunting in Connecticut. No word as to whether the upcoming film will be a remake of either of these films.
