luke-evans-1The Crow

I am really, really on the fence about a remake of The Crow. I’m hoping that they can do justice to the original, but I guess we will have to wait to see. For a film that became a cult classic almost overnight, it is going to take a lot of effort to win over the hearts of those who love the original.

Director F. Javier Gutierrez has finally found his leading man to fill in the shoes of Brandon Lee’s iconic Eric Draven in The Crow. While other actors were looked at (Tom Hiddleston and Alexander Skarsgard), the director has settled on Welsh actor Luke Evans. Evans has starred in The Clash of the Titans, Immortals, The Three Musketeers, etc. His role in the upcoming Hobbit film has caused production of The Crow to be postponed until his previous commitment has been completed.

Latino Heat  was able to get a peek at the script for the upcoming remake and let’s just say the film may need a rewrite or maybe some polish, because as of right now, it looks pretty disappointing. Eric Draven is a bible quoting police officer who has to paint his face because he is invisible? My heart hurts right now. Watch the video below from Latino Heat for a more detailed review of the script:

Beneath

Chiller has recently released the official trailer for Larry Fessenden’s Beneath. You might recognize Fessenden as the director of Wendigo and also the producer of films such as Stake Land (a personal favorite of mine), Hypothermia, and The House of the Devil.

This movie looks like it might be an interesting mash up between the television show Survivor (voting them off the island takes a new spin) with a health dose of Jaws with a little bit of Creepshow‘s The Raft. Toss in a healthy does of terror and questionable morals, this may be a very interesting film. Take a look at the trailer below and tell me what you think:

When a bloodthirsty, underwater predator leaves a group of teens trapped on a leaking boat in the middle of a lake, the friends must choose between loyalty and survival in this monstrous morality tale.

Terror Vortex

Micro-budget film Terror Vortex, directed by Christian Ackerman, has had its first teaser trailer released. Take a peek below. This is one of those films that shows us that you don’t have to have millions invested to make a good, interesting film. What you need is dedication and a love of the craft.

A mind bending psychological thriller Horror about a man chasing down a serial killer in through the streets of New York. He’s abducted his wife, he needs to find her, and he finds something more horrific.
