Syfy has debuted the first teaser trailer for its new scifi show, Helix. Helmed by a whole host of big names in the scifi TV world, Helix aspires to be the next in a series of television shows dealing with “end of humanity” themes, including AMC’s The Walking Dead, TNT’s Falling Skies, and NBC’s Revolution.
At the show’s helm is Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), working alongside Lynda Obst (Contact) and Steven Maeda (LOST). Cameron Porsandeh (no credits to his name) wrote the pilot script.
Here’s what Helix is all about, straight from Syfy:
When a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, they quickly find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation.
True to the trend we’ve been seeing lately (with the exception of the recent Catching Fire teaser trailer), the teaser trailer for Helix doesn’t show much. The trailer quickly transitions from an overview of an Arctic landscape to the inside of an all-white laboratory, where we’re shown the back of a lab worker’s head as he sits at a work station. Text floats across the screen during the trailer, reading: “A team of scientists — working in secret — are about to change the world — or end it”.
Helix is set to premiere later this year on Syfy.
