‘Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters’ release date changed, set to hit theaters sooner


It’s been three years since ‘The Lightning Thief’ hit theaters to mix reception, with little information available on a sequel until earlier this year, when it was announced that the cast would be returning for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, set to release in August. Now, 20th Century Fox has pushed the film’s release date ahead, meaning Percy Jackson fans have even less time to wait for their favorite demigod to grace theater screens.

Sea of Monsters, based off of the second book in the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series by Rick Riordan, was set to premiere nationwide on August 16th, but its release was pushed ahead by ten days to August 7th, allowing it easy competition in a weekend with no other big openers.

This news is hot on the heels of the first theatrical trailer for Sea of Monsters, which ran ahead of recently-released The Host. You can view that trailer below:
