‘Legend of Korra, Book One’ finally headed to DVD and Blu-Ray, including new special bonus content

KorraBluRayCoverIt’s been a year since ‘The Legend of Korra’, the massively-anticipated follow-up to Nickelodeon’s cult-hit Avatar: The Last Airbender, hit the airwaves. Since then, we’ve heard little in the way of a DVD release for Book One or a premiere date for Book Two. Nickelodeon is finally ready to speak on one of the topics, announcing a release date, cover art, and feature set for the Blu-Ray/DVD release of The Legend of Korra, Book One: Air!

To mark their first foray into Blu-Ray releases, Nick has opted to include special Blu-Ray only features:

  • Audio Commentaries from series creators, cast and crew for all 12 episodes.

Those who purchase Book One on DVD will receive the following bonus features (also available to Blu-Ray purchasers):

  • Series creators’ Favorite Scenes: Eight Animatics
  • The Legend of Puppetbender Present “The Making of a Legend: The Untold Story” (original short)

The most unique bit of content on either edition is, of course, the Legend of Pupperbender content. This new animated short “features a comical look at the Korra characters, in puppet form, as they’re interviewed about their adventures”. Sounds promising!

The downside to this news? There’s still no information on a premiere date for Book Two! Stay tuned, Avatar and Korra fans: we’ll make sure you’re the first to know when we hear more about Book Two.
