Peter Dinklage’s villainous ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ won’t be CGI

peter-dinklage-x-men-days-of-future-pastIt’s been a few weeks since the announcement that Peter Dinklage would be joining the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past in an as-of-yet-unknown role. Fans originally speculated that the actor would play Puck, a dwarf fighter and acrobat, whose abilities were due to “mystical influences”.  It was later reported that the Game of Thrones actor would actually be playing the film’s lead antagonist, resulting in the assumption that the actor’s character would be a CGI-heavy supervillain.

Not true, says X-Men director Bryan Singer:

He’s not going to be a CGI character. He’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting]. It’s so funny to talk to him because he does that impeccable accent [on Game of Thrones]and then you talk to him and he’s this guy from New Jersey.

Singer seems to be aiming to keep Dinklage’s role in the film a total secret for as long as possible. With the film still picking up actors, it could be a while before production begins and the leaks start. In the mean time, fans are left speculating whether the actor will play an entirely new villain or if Singer and company will continue to pull from the comics to find their next big villain.

Who do you think Peter Dinklage will be playing?
