New trailer for ‘The Host’ forgets Valentines day and highlights the film’s alien invasion core

A new trailer for the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s The Host has hit in time for Valentines day, but leaves behind the familiar love story overtones we’ve come to expect from the book and past trailers. Instead, the new trailer focuses heavily on the film’s alien invasion core, progressively telling the story of a young woman attempting to repel the alien host hoping to use her to uncover humanity’s last group of free people.

It still isn’t clear on what direction this film will take. Is Open Road Films looking to capitalize on the huge thirst Twilight fans have for more Meyer-written love stories, or are they aiming to appeal to those who enjoy scifi and alien invasion films?

The movie is set to hit theaters on March 29th, 2013. Will you be seeing it?
