It’s a wrap for production on the ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ pilot!

News broke today that the pilot episode of Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show has been completed, but also that ABC has yet to pick Marvel_the_avengers_shield_logo-wallpaper-up the show for its Fall lineup.

Whedon, along with his brother, Jed, and Jed’s wife, Maurissa Tancharoen, are behind the camera for this episode, while Marvel movie veteran Clark Gregg returns as fan favorite Agent Phil Coulson. Joining Gregg are Ming-Na Wen from Eureka, Chloe Bennet from Nashville, and others.

Assuming the show is picked up, it will premiere later this year. I don’t see why it wouldn’t get picked up, seeing as it is a spin-off of Marvel’s highly successful movie franchise AND it involves Joss Whedon. After The Avengers, any project involving Whedon is bound to generate tons of attention and hype. Plus, the fact that Clark Gregg is returning excites me greatly, despite knowing that the showrunners will have to justify bringing him back after he met his end in The Avengers.

What do you think? Do you think a S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series would work? What about Agent Coulson’s return? Should he come back?
