‘Nicholas Flammel’ author Michael Scott tapped for next 50th anniversary Doctor Who e-book, ‘The Nameless City’

michael-scott-nameless-cityThe Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel author Michael Scott, known as a master of young adult mythology, has been tapped as the next author to pen a Doctor Who e-book short story in celebration of the show’s 50th anniversary.

The team behind Doctor Who describe the initiative as:

Eleven Doctors, eleven months, eleven stories: a year-long celebration of Doctor Who! The most exciting names in children’s fiction each create their own unique adventure about the time-travelling Time Lord.

Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl) was the first author announced to be writing one of the short stories. His story, “A Big Hand for the Doctor” was released on January 23rd and focused on the first Doctor.

Michael Scott’s short story, “The Nameless City”, will follow the second Doctor:

When Jamie McCrimmon brings the Second Doctor a mysterious book, little does he realise the danger contained within its pages. The book transports the TARDIS to a terrifying glass city on a distant world, where the Archons are intent on getting revenge on the Time Lord for an ancient grudge.

U.K. newspaper The Guardian is currently previewing an excerpt from The Nameless City on their website. You can pre-order The Nameless City for $2.61 on Amazon for instant delivery on February 23rd!

The series will continue for all eleven doctors, with three through eleven set to release on the 23rd of each month, culminating on December 23rd, 2013. Nine more as-of-yet-unannounced YA authors will join the line-up!
