J.J. Abrams, the director of Star Trek, Super 8, Star Trek: Into Darkness, and many more, has been confirmed to helm the seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise. This may come as a shock to many, considering Abrams was thought to have no involvement in the production of the new film.
Now, though, officials over at LucasFilm are saying otherwise. LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy officially confirmed the news in a press release. Not only will J.J. Abrams be directing, he will also be producing along with Bryan Burk. It was also announced that The Empire Strikes Back screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan would be writing the script for Episode VII.
What do you all think? Is Abrams a suitable director for Star Wars: Episode VII?
