Lionsgate made a name for itself with its first box office hit American Psycho, which set off a trend of producing and distributing controversial and low budget films.
Now, news has been dropped that Lionsgate is returning to the realm of low budget horror by launching a new division to cater to productions that run less than $2.5 million. This seems to be an upcoming trend among other production companies. Examples would be Blumhouse Productions who released Insidious and Paranormal Activity and Paramount Insurge with The Devil Inside.
What do you all think? Might this be a reinvention of the horror field with a return to original ideas?
