Fresh From the Slab: Horror Movie News September 22, 2012

It’s approaching Halloween, and the horror movie news is going insane! Let me know what you think about these upcoming movies!

This VOD film is being released on October 11th and 12th. In anticipation of the release, a new trailer has been released. I don’t know, but the villian in this movie looks insanely creepy.

The story of the film follows a mentally fragile college student named Ashley (Caitlin Gerard from “Magic Mike” and “The Social Network”) who, after learning of an urban legend in which a mysterious serial killer named “Smiley” can be summoned through the Internet, must decide whether she is losing her mind or becoming Smiley‘s next victim.”

Directed by James Felix McKenney (Automatons, Canniballistic, Satan Hates You) and produced by the folks who brought us Stake Land, The House of the Devil, and The Innkeepers, Hypothermia is a return to old school monster movies. Starring Michael Rooker, the movie is available on DVD on October 2nd and can be pre-ordered now here. Take a look at the summary and trailer below:

Ray Pelletier (Michael Rooker) is looking forward to a quiet weekend of ice fishing with his family at the same peaceful lake they’ve been visiting for years. Unfortunately for the Pelletiers, the obnoxious big-city father-son duo of Steve and Stevie Cote has picked the same weekend to spend at the remote frozen spot.

The fishermen quickly notice that the fish below the thick ice aren’t biting, and Ray thinks the Cotes’ state-of-the-art gear, including a loud ice drill, has scared them all away. But the two families’ petty squabbles are soon eclipsed by a much greater enemy: Something unnatural and ferocious is under the ice, and its prey is human. Miles from civilization and with only a few inches separating them from the freezing water below, the Pelletiers and the Cotes must find a way to work together to fight the vicious creature that’s out to hunt them.

The Factory

Detective Mike Fletcher, a rugged and obsessive police officer, and his partner Kelsey Walker, are on the trial of a serial killer who prowls the streets targeting young streetwalkers. When his teenage daughter disappears, Fletcher discovers that the killer has kidnapped her after mistaking her for a prostitute. Fletcher’s obsession goes into overdrive when he drops all professional restraint to get the killer and save his daughter.

Starring John Cusack, The Factory is being slated for DVD distribution in 2012. Take a look at the pics below!
