Nintendo first introduced their upcoming Nintendo Wii U last summer at E3 2011 – but since then, we have had very few details. Today, however, is a big day for Nintendo – they are confirming all the details that the industry has been patiently waiting for. Keep reading to see the Wii U release date, pricing, and contents of the two Nintendo Wii U sets hitting the stores this fall.
The Wii U will ship in the two colors we have been seeing: white and black (no surprise here). The white set (basic set) will be priced at $299.99 and the black set (deluxe) will be priced at $349.99. They will be availble for North America in a quick 66 days – November 18, 2012.
Here are the differences between the two sets:
White (basic)
- Wii U Console
- Wii U GamePad
- AC Adapter for each
- High Speed HDMI Cable
- Wii U Sensor Bar
- 8gb memory
Black (deluxe)
- Wii U Console
- Wii U GamePad
- AC Adapter for each
- High Speed HDMI Cable
- 32gb memory
- GamePad Charging Cradle
- Stands for GamePad and Console
- Nintendo Land
Each package will contain only one GamePad controller input even though the console supports two (at a slower framerate). Also make note, there are no Wii Accessories included, which is intentional because most of the previous Wii accessories and games are compatible. As Nintendo proudly explains, they’ve sold over 100 million Wii Remotes in North America and over 60 million Nunchuks, meaning the market is already full of them.
As a bonus – Nintendo also gave us a list of 50 games that will release alongside the Wii U.
