Great news for Sailor Moon fans!
Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi has teamed up with musical group Momoiro Clover Z and the publisher Kodansha to create a new anime adaptation of the classic Sailor Moon manga. The plan is for the tv show to debut next summer with, of course, a new theme song by Momoiro Clover Z, who sang the original anime’s theme song, “Moonlight Densetsu”. Happily for us in the US, the anime will be released simultaneously worldwide.
It is unclear whether or not the original voice of Sailor Moon, Kotono Mitsuishi, will play a role in the new series, though she was present during the announcement event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the manga. She has since mused on her blog that she hopes to have some involvement. She talked about how her performance in the first series, comparing it to her voice acting abilities now.
