What an exciting week for comics! DC releases a new batch of New 52 #10′s, while Marvel has some titles to brag about too. Looking for the right books to pick up? Below we have reviews of Justice League #10, Green Lantern: New Guardians #10, and Aquaman #10, three of this week’s most anticipated releases!
Justice League #10
Shocking, action-packed, and thrilling, Justice League #10, brought to us by superstars Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, is an incredible comic experience that expands on a sinister new villain introduced last issue! No spoilers here, but let’s just say this new baddie will give our heroes a run for their money!
A villain by the name of Graves is determined to destroy the Justice League, and Steve Trevor has given him everything he needs to do it! The Justice League vow to stop this new adversary, but is their combined might enough to stop him?
This issue, part two of ‘The Villain’s Journey’ story arc, is by far the most revealing and stunning issue in the series so far. Here we have a complex villain who has a very personal grudge against the Justice League, and who will stop at nothing to get his vengeance. Graves is a much more compelling villain than Darkseid, and I hope we see more of him throughout the series.
As always, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee do a phenomenal job with this comic. Johns proves yet again that not only is he a gifted storyteller, but he KNOWS the characters. Jim Lee’s art is absolutely gorgeous, and upon finishing this book I spent a good ten minutes just flipping through admiring the artwork.
If you loved issue #9, you need to pick this one up.
Green Lantern: New Guardians #10
Brimming with action, incredible art, and a diverse batch of characters, Green Lantern: New Guardians is great fun, and will have readers pumped for what comes next.
The Reach is one step away from taking over Odym, home of the Blue Lanterns, when Kyle Rayner and company arrive to save the day. But the Reach’s power proves to be too much, and they must leave the planet to avoid certain death.
New Guardians #10 is another winner from DC, and remains the best Green Lantern title currently on shelves. Fun to read and look at, this comic is sure to please readers with any interest.
Fans of the Green Lantern universe will want to pick up this thrilling adventure from the brilliant folks over at DC.
This fantastic issue, part four of ‘The Others’ arc, reveals more about Aquaman’s mysterious past and questions his morals. Plus, we get an awesome fight scene between him and Black Manta. What’s not to like.
Since issue one, Geoff Johns has done a phenomenal job turning Aquaman from laughing stock into awesome superhero. This issue is no different. We also get some great character development, presenting Aquaman as a hero who doesn’t always make the right choices. It also reveals the humanity of the character, making him more believable and relatable.
