Sequels are always a touchy subject because they are hard to pull off properly. That being said, it has been nearly two years since Mickey Mouse artistically saved Wasteland in Epic Mickey. However, in Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Mickey is joined by Oswald the Lucky rabbit, on of Walt Disney’s first original characters. Adding another classic Disney character to the mix has to make for an awesome sequel, right?
Although the game revisits the Wasteland again, players will be able to explore much more than before. The first task at hand is to re-obtain the Magic Paintbrush by visiting Yen Sid’s tower. The environments and visuals are literally the same as last time (the game only took 18 months to develop) but the biggest change is the two-player co-op integration with Oswald. He will not just help Mickey get past difficult obstacles, but armed with his Remote Control, Oswald harnesses the power of electricity (a special Wii Nunchuk will be available in the shape of the Remote Control, along with Mickey’s Paintbrush). Learn more about Oswald in Disney’s second behind the scenes featurette showcasing the history of the character.
Fans of the first Epic Mickey will still have a great time. The same reasons players fell in love with the original are truly evident in the new game, but the addition of Oswald makes it even more awesome.
Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two releases November 18, 2012, for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii.
