Familiar fantasy and scifi faces nominated for 2012 Razzies (worst movies of the year)

4

It isn’t Oscar Sunday without the announcement of Razzie Award nominees and we’re starting to sense a trend here! The Razzies clearly aren’t Transformer or Twilight fans, as both films lead the pack in nominations for various “Worst of 2012” categories. Also joining Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Transformers: Dark of the Moon was Nick Cage and his film, Season of the Witch.

Familiar acting faces include Taylor Lautner (both for Twilight and Abduction), Kristen Stewart, Nicolas Cage, “The Entire Cast of Twilight”, and “The Entire Cast of Transformers”.

Here’s a full list of scifi and fantasy “nods” at this year’s Razzies (bolded):

  • BUCKY LARSON: BORN TO BE A STAR
  • JACK & JILL

  • TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON – Written by Ehren Kruger

While it’s sad to see fantasy and scifi films making the list, it isn’t too shocking. Transformers has regularly been panned by critics, and despite its large cult fan following, Twilight also enjoys its fair share of detractors.

Spared this year was Robert Pattinson, who escaped the Razzies’ wrath as a nominee for Worst Actor. Congratulations, Robert? (We should note, however, that Pattinson was technically nominated as part of the Worst Screen Couple “award”, but that seemed a bit more focused on Kristin Stewart.)
