We have to be careful when discussing vampires: they’ll either sparkle you to death or show up in the middle of the night to rip your throat out. However, after seeing the first promotional posters for the 2012 Tim Burton project based on the popular novel of the same name — Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter — we’re convinced that this movie will be anything but bad-ass.
Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov are producing and directing (respectively) the film adaptation, which stars Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln. The two posters show the dark side of one of the United States’ most popular presidents: hat tipped, face obscured, moody dark lighting, wielding an axe (presumably his vampire-killing weapon of choice):
Fox has also revealed the film’s official description, which sets an eery but awesome tone for the upcoming historical vampire slasher:
ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER explores the secret life of our greatest President, and the untold story that shaped our nation. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of WANTED) bring a fresh and visceral voice to the blood-thirsty lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history’s greatest hunter of the undead.
What do you think of the posters and the film’s premise? Are you ready to see Honest Abe kick some vampire ass?
