This Week In Trailers: “Battleship,” “The Cabin In The Woods”

The new Battleship trailer has somewhat of a Transformers vibe about it, with an unknown technology-based race as a threat and the amount of things blowing up. The special effects do look pretty impressive though. Here’s the synopsis from IMDB:

A fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals.

Directed by Peter Berg and starring Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson and Taylor Kitsch, Battleship is set for a release on May 18, 2012.

The Cabin in the Woods trailer starts off as a typical “group of friends goes into the woods-runs into a psycho killer” kind of horror, until a moment which made me go “wait, what just happened?” Looks like it won’t be just like any other horror movie of this type, as there appears to be an interesting sci-fi twist to it. Directed by Drew Goddard , who also wrote the screenplay, along with Joss Whedon, The Cabin in the Woods comes out on April 13, 2012. See for yourselves:

Also, check out the opening scene for the post-apocalyptic tale The Divide, scheduled for the release on January 13, 2012. Looks very promising.
