Producer Neal Moritz is on a rebook kick recently. Total Recall is set to come out next year, and the next project that he has lined up is a remake of the 1997 sci-fi cult classic film, Starship Troopers. The screenwriters on this project will be Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz. This duo has also worked on Thor and X-Men: First Class as well as episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Fringe.
The original movie was based off of the novel by Robert A. Heinlein. It starred Casper Van Dien, Dina Mever, Denise Richards, Jake Busey, Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Muldoon and Michael Ironside. The plot centers around a fascistic, milatristic future of Earth in which humans must battle giant alien bugs in order to stay alive. It had been nominated for an Oscar and was the the recipient of a Saturn Award for best costumes and best special effects. The question therefore is, can the reboot repeat the success?
