DC Launches Storefront on Amazon.com

A few weeks ago, we announced that some bad blood had been formed between Barnes and Noble bookstores and DC Comics due to the fact that DC had decided to exclusively partner with Amazon.com, using their Kindle Fire to launch a whole schlew of their digital comics in this ereader format for the first time – leaving the B&N Nook in the dust. (See original article here) As of this morning, Amazon and DC have become even cozier, as DC has expanded with Amazon to offer an entire storefront on their website. This storefront showcases the previously mentioned list of comic books for sale both digitally (compatible with the Kindle Fire) as well as the classic print copies to be mailed to fan’s homes in the more traditional fashion. At least for now, this digital deal with Amazon and their ereader is exclusive.

DC’s Senior Vice President of Digital, Hank Kanalz, cements:

We’re in constant communication to expand onto other devices. There’s nothing we can talk about today as we want to keep it to Amazon, obviously. Our goal for today is to have our material available on as many devices as possible. Out backlist is so extensive – we have thousands of books – that we have a lot to and a long road ahead of us, and we want to move forward with as many different partners as possible.
