Syfy Buys Jack Black’s New Paranormal Comedy, “Ghost Ghirls”

It looks like Syfy is really bent on building up their original television portfolio! We recently reported that Syfy was working on three new scifi/paranormal originals for the ratings-record channel, and now we have word that they’ve acquired a fourth show: a paranormal comedy executive produced by Jack Black!

The project is being lead by Jeremy Konner (director), Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci with Jack Black attached as EP. Deadline, who exclusively broke the news, has this to say about the show:

Ghost Ghirls is a comedic take on popular paranormal procedurals like Medium and Ghost Whisperer starring Lund and Blasucci (improv two-women show BEANS!) as two women: Heidi, who has self-proclaimed psychic abilities, and Angelica, who is a tech wiz. Together they attempt to solve paranormal mysteries each week while trying to prove to themselves and their customers that they are competent ghost hunters.

Little else is known about the show at this time. It appears the show has yet to film a pilot, so it may be some time before we see anything appear on Syfy. Either way, we’ll keep you updated!
