Viacom CEO Updates Audiences on Transformers 4, Paranormal Activity 4, and Ninja Turtles

Viacom recently held their quarterly earnings call for investors where Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman walked listeners through what they can expect from some of the larger movie franchises Viacom holds in the coming months. Among these franchises were Transformers, Paranormal Activity, Star Trek, and Ninja Turtles — all of which had noteworthy mentions throughout the call!

  • Star Trek 2: JJ Abrams, writer/director of the original film, is still working hard on a script for the second installment. The company expects Star Trek 2 to release in 2013.
  • Transformers 4: Those rumors we recently reported on? Turns out they aren’t just rumors! Says Dauman, “It would be silly for us not to talk about having another Transformers movie.” Looks like we may be seeing our favorite autobots back in theaters, despite director Michael Bay stating that three was all we’d see!
  • Paranormal Activity 4: The team behind Paranormal Activity realizes that there is still a tremendous amount of interest in the franchise and is currently brainstorming ideas for another movie (but it is still not definite).
  • Ninja Turtles: As previously confirmed, this franchise is getting the reboot treatment! The CEO announced that the live-action film currently in the works is a joint venture with Nickelodeon which will launch alongside their new animated Ninja Turtles show.

What do you think about the above franchises getting more love? Would you have preferred to hear about some new properties being acquired/worked on, or are you looking forward to seeing more of the same?
