Zombieland could have a sequel coming soon, but it won’t be a movie. Industry publications are saying that Fox and Sony Pictures are in talks to produce a half-hour television show based on Zombieland. The writer/creators of the movie, Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick, are supposedly onboard with the creation of the show, which would scheduled for the 2012-2013 television season.
It is also worth noting that Zombieland was originally conceived as a television show and that some elements such as the “Zombie Kill of the Week” were intended to be a weekly occurrence in the series. CBS ordered a pilot script for the show back in 2005 but passed, as did Syfy.
Zombieland was released in October of 2009 and went on to gross over $100 million in worldwide box office receipts.[via Vulture]
