Sixteen zombies injured on set of Resident Evil film

On Tuesday, 16 actors dressed as zombies were injured when the platform on which they were standing shifted suddenly sending them falling as far as 20 feet onto the ground below while filming scenes in Toronto for “Resident Evil: Retribution.”

The gruesome nature of the makeup they were wearing initially confused first responders as to the extent of the injuries of the fallen actors. While none of the injuries were life-threatening, 10 people were taken to the hospital for injuries ranging from broken ribs to broken legs.

The “industrial accident,” as investigators are calling it, happened around 8:30am at Toronto’s Cinespace Film Studios. “Resident Evil: Retribution” is the fifth film in the Resident Evil franchise, the previous film (poster pictured) grossed nearly $300 million worldwide. The film stars Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, and Boris Kodjoe and is scheduled for release September 14, 2012.
