Hello readers! This past week hasn’t been very news heavy for anime, but I think I found a few interesting stories for all of you to go over. I’m still figuring out what kind of stories and how rumor or fact based the stories I post should be, so if anyone has any constructive suggestions, please feel free to leave them in the comments section. Anyway I hope you find the stories I’ve dug up interesting!
CLAMP Manga “Legal Drug” to be re-Named with Manga Re-Launch
The talented and famous manga author group CLAMP currently have a few series unfinished or on hold. Legal Drug, one of these titles, is getting a revival. Not only is it slated for re-launch, it’s also getting a new name as part of the treatment. Legal Drug is going to re-booted with the new name Drug and Drop on November 4th in Young Ace magazine. CLAMP stopped the original seinen manga after releasing three volumes, which has been said to be only about a fifth of the story. Hopefully other CLAMP manga such as X/1999 and Clover will get a reboot too.
Sailor Moon tops Nielsen BookScan Chart
The much anticipated re-release of Naoko Takauchi’s Sailor Moon ranked #1 on the Nielsen BookScan chart detailing the Top 20 graphic novels sold in bookstores in September. It’s less known predecessor, Code Name: Sailor V, followed directly behind at #2. The rest of the manga on the list is as follows:
#1-Sailor Moon Vol. 1
#2-Codename: Sailor V Vol. 1
#3-Naruto Vol. 52
#6-Black Bird Vol. 10
#8-Bleach Vol. 36
#9-Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 26
#12-Dance in the Vampire Bund Vol. 7
#13-Dance in the Vampire Bund Vol. 6
#15-Grand Guignol Orchestra Vol. 1
#17-Dance of the Vampire Bund Vol. 9
#18-Omamori Himamari Vol. 1
#20-Ultimo Vol. 2
I guess it goes to show that the Sailor Moon franchise is that isn’t leaving any anime fan’s favorites list anytime soon. Hopefully, a new dub or release of the anime will happen.

Gurren Lagann director Hiroyuki Imaishi starts new studio with Animator Masahiko Ohtsuka
Initially announced through Masahiko Ohtsuka’s twitter account, both he and Hiroyuki Imaishi have left Gainax to form their own animation studio. Although still just a small startup, the pair plan to create unique and interesting works. This is exciting news considering that Imaishi’s directing credits include epically eccentric titles such as Dead Leaves and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Animator Masahiko Ohtsuka is also no stranger to the imaginatively esoteric; He collaborated with Imaishi on FLCL, Panty & Stocking and Gurren Lagann. More news should be available on this topic after an article about the new studio appears in Japanese magazine Newtype in November.
