With the long awaited movie event, The Avengers, taking theaters by storm next May, Marvel Studios has started opening up about their plans for post –Avenger movie release schedule. Aside from Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 in 2013, it really isn’t clear what Marvel movies are slated for release after that. Now, though, we have some insight on what Marvel Studios has in store for us in the next few years.
Two lesser-known Marvel comic books, The Inhumans and Guardians of the Galaxy may be adapted for the big screen soon. Entertainment Weekly says that after 2013 we will likely see adaptations of both comics. Before then, however, we will see Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 hit theaters. But what does that mean for an Avengers sequel or a Captain America sequel? If that is the case, fans will have to wait at least three years for Captain America 2 and The Avengers 2.
2011 was a successful year for Marvel movies, and it’s looking like 2012 will be too. While I would like to see Captain America and The Avengers sequels happen sooner, I support Marvel in their decision to make movies about these relatively obscure characters. It could be that these movies might be made to set up The Avengers 2, much like Thor, Captain America, and the Iron Man films set up the first Avengers film.
What do you all think of Marvel’s release schedule?
