J.J. Abrams is famed for the ridiculous amount of secret that goes into his projects. The filmmaker has enjoyed success over the past several years on three very secret projects: Cloverfield and Super 8… and you can’t forget Lost. This man is practically expected to announce that a film project exists without giving any sort of detail until the movie is just days from release — and this time is no different.
Abrams is now working on a new film project which Paramount, which is being described as a “mystery adventure”. Yeah, that’s it. Famed screenwriter Billy Ray (Pan, A Captain’s Duty, and the screenplay for the upcoming 24 movie) is working with Abrams on the project.
If one thing’s for certain, it’s that we won’t know any more information about this project for a very long time. But that begs the question: is Abrams’ trademark secrecy becoming annoying in Hollywood? We saw it work with Lost, Cloverfield, and somewhat with Super 8… but it’s beginning to feel tiring. It’s tough to get excited about a project you know little about, but on the other hand, the anticipation of learning can result in even more excitement.
Guess we’ll just have to wait an see!
Are you excited for this new project or tired of the hyped silence of his films?
